Recipes for meals made from home-gown vegetable and fruit also included recipes for farm raised and kitchen processed meats, such as chicken, duck, and, lamb.
At times, recipes from earlier days had to be made without incorporating sugar. Some of these recipes can be characterized more as survival recipes. Not simply deserts.
